As of 2022, the MAFLT has established an official role for faculty who teach languages and train language teachers in related programs. These Faculty Affiliate Mentors, or FAMs, commit to participating in MAFLT events, making themselves available for mentoring, and familiarizing themselves with MAFLT procedures and platforms so that they are prepared to teach FLT courses. It is particularly important given our recent collaborations that Akiko Imamura, Ayman Mohamed, Rajiv Ranjan, Shannon Quinn, and Jiahang Li are all speakers of less-commonly-taught languages (LCTLs).
